I've been contemplating a few things this week, one of them being the age old question "What is your favorite movie?"
I've pretty much always said the Kiera Knightly version of "Pride and Prejudice." I feel happy when I watch that movie. My only dilemma is that it seems that it is every BYU girl's favorite movie.
And I can't ever explain *why* its my favorite.
So I've been trying to figure out what I want my favorite movie to be and letting it percolate in my mind.
This week I went to my Aunt's for a girls night. We decided to watch "You've Got Mail" with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.
I've seen the movie before, but this night it hit me: THIS is my favorite movie! I was laughing, almost crying, and totally in love with the characters and their interaction. It was quirky and cute. I feel the main character is my spirit animal.
I hadn't told my aunt about my movie dilemma or epiphany, but 5 minutes after I made my decision that this was my favorite movie, she says, "I think this movie is based off of Pride and Prejudice."
Boof.
First of all: mind blown, because it totally is.
Second of all: I just have to accept the fact that Pride and Prejudice is my favorite movie. That's all there is to it.
It reminds me of the time when I was trying to expand my vegetable horizon because all I would get on my Subway sandwiches was cucumbers and lettuce. And lettuce doesn't even count. Everybody gets lettuce.
One day, I decided to try pickles on my sub. It was a hit! I was so proud of myself, I had tried a new vegetable and liked it!
Then it dawned on me that pickles were just another form of cucumber. I had to put the kibash on my little dance party.
So in honor of this experience here is quote from the "You've Got Mail":

Love it! I also love You've Got Mail AND P&P. Except my fave is the Colin Firth version. All 6 glorious hours. Mind blown and you (or your aunt) are totally correct! I never caught that before.
Here's our funny P&P story. McKenna watched it (firth version) in one sitting and then said, that was so good I think I just might watch it again. Right now.
So she had a 12 hour P&P marathon. :)
